Our Story
Funke's Foundry is a toy shop that travels. It turns up at markets and fairs across the Fraser Valley, and what is inside changes each time.
We sell wooden animals, jointed bears, construction sets and puzzles, mostly from small family workshops. Some have been going for over a century. One escaped East Germany in 1948 to keep the business in the family. One was founded by two grandfathers who taught their grandchildren to make things. One makes toys that only work once you have built them.
What we carry, and why
Three questions decide it. Is it made to last, can it be mended, and is it worth handing on. A well-made bear survives a childhood and goes to the next one. A cheap one does not last the year.
We would rather show you a thing than sell it to you. Ask where a piece came from, who made it, what is inside it, and we will tell you, or point you at the story on the site. Every figure in some ranges is painted by hand, so no two are quite alike, and that is the sort of thing worth knowing before you choose one.
Repairs
If something we sold you comes apart, bring it back. We will repair it free or at cost, and if you would rather mend it yourself we will tell you how. Toys were meant to be mended.
Finding us
The trailer moves, so check the Location page or Instagram for where it will be next. We deliver across the Langley to Chilliwack corridor, same day where we can, and ship across Canada.
